Woolgathering

I am an artist living and working in Raleigh, NC. I am a graduate of the East Carolina University School of Art and Design. I have a B.A. in Communication Arts with a focus on Illustration.

I have worked as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Marketing Manager for major corporations including Fujitsu and IBM. Projects I’ve worked on include technical manuals, online help systems and corporate ad campaigns and branding strategies. I am currently employed as Web Art Director for Early Design Group in Raleigh, NC.

My first love is drawing and painting. I also have an avid interest in classic children’s literature and illustration, particularly middle-grade fantasies such as the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis. Recent favorite: The Graveyard Book.

I have exhibited at several venues in the state, including most recently at the Visual Art Exchange in downtown Raleigh.

Artist Statement

My latest work is a blend of graphite, acrylic, oilstick, ink, and digital imagery. I use all of these media to compose, manipulate texture, and create mood. The end result is a work created from many varied media, but unified by its composition, palette and vision. Thoughts on aging parents, childhood dreams, and adult realities figure into many of the muted landscapes and interpretive portraits—which serve as allegories of patience, inevitability, and the ephemeral quality of life.
